Okay well I don’t know much but I have parsley in my room so I decided to google today what I can use it for and basically parsley is much more badass than I initially thought it would be?
Like Romans used it to sweeten their breath, to keep their food from getting contaminated and for protection (and for having less fun they wore it in hopes it would keep them sober), but in Greek culture apparently parsley wasn’t even grown or brought inside, or even eaten by people at all because they associated it that heavily with death 💀 They thought just bringing it inside would be the equivalent of inviting death to your doorstep. So it was primarily used for decorating tombs and funeral ceremonies. Apparently Persephone carried a bundle parsley around so I can understand that connection with her being Queen of the Underworld.
Apparently it’s also rumoured that you really shouldn’t uproot parsley plants because it’s bad luck. And also apparently if you pluck a parsley plant while saying someone’s name they will *die* soooooooooo (pro-curse witches, here’s a new plant for ya)💀💀💀
Basically parsley is a badass plant associated with everyone’s favorite Goddess of the Underworld; it has lots of cool spooky folklore, can be used for benevolent and malevolent magick and spirit work, and has medicinal uses as well!
Add parsley to your witchcraft supplies this year cuz I know I am!!!
For garden and kitchen witches it is super easy to grow and makes a myriad of delicious dishes! My favorite being pasta agla e olio which is just a mixture of pasta, olive oil, garlic and parsley. It also works wonderfully in many Greek dishes if that is more your flavor!
That dish sounds amazing 😍 Thank you for adding on to this post!
Parsley also has abortifacient properties so be careful about using it, in any form, in mass quantity while pregnant.
